Daniel at the Tetons

Bio:

Daniel Krucoff is a photographer living in the Black Forest area of Colorado with his glass artist wife, Kathleen and their three basset hounds. His work consists of landscape and architectural photography using both traditional film and newer digital techniques.

Primarily self-taught, his interest in photography started with the childhood camping and hiking trips with his family. The natural beauty that the Colorado mountains provided were the inspirations for wanting to capture these majestic scenes. He now travels throughout Colorado and the other western states to find his subjects.

Daniel was slow in adopting digital tools into his photography. Given that his formal education is in computer science, some might find that odd. But for his art he always felt that image quality and print longevity out weighed convenience. He was only willing to make use of the new technology when the overall results were an improvement on the traditional methods.

Artist's Statement:

An instant captured
Night turns into day
Leaves change with the seasons
Structures weather over decades
Land shaped by wind and water through millennia

It's all about time.

Whether freezing a single moment in time or letting motion blur across the frame, time is the under lying subject in my photography. My father was trained as a geologist and would often point out features in the landscape the occurred over millions of years. Thinking about how long that was and what a short time we were here to witness it gave me a certain fascination about time.

To this day I still marvel at how things change with the passage of time. To be in the right place at the instant when the light is just right and the sands of time have shaped my subject to show its inherent beauty. The privilege of not only being there, but to capture that image, is what keeps me inspired to keep looking for those perfect moments.
